What incredible facilities and support are available for young people and the whole of the community in Falmouth! Richard May told members about the wide-ranging provision offered at the Dracaena Centre when he joined them on July 12. Working with the view to provide positive experiences for young people in particular, Richard and his team are involved in health promotion, training for employment, as well as offering many sports and leisure activities. Members were interested to hear about the pilot restorative justice scheme supporting the victims of crime. Richard invited volunteers to experience some of the activities used to develop communication skills and team building. Peals of laughter came from the eight brave souls, who each acted as a sliding numerical square, as they attempted to arrange the numbers into sequence by only moving  into a space backwards, forwards or sideways. Diagonal moves were banned! It soon became clear who should be future presidents! This was a thoroughly entertaining and informative evening which was enjoyed by the 32 members who had braved Thursday’s deluge. We look forward to entertaining our guests from Madron WI at Carwinion Gardens later this month and to the President’s Tea Party in August. Our programme continues on September 13 at 7.30pm when Philip Rodda will talk about the family business. The competition will be for something naughty but nice: a cream tea for one! We welcome visitors to join us at the Memorial hall in Mawnan Smith.
