Members of Mawnan Church have been maintaining the tradition of a parish rogation walk.

The annual Women’s World Day of Prayer Service, prepared by the women of Cameroon, was held in Mawnan Chapel, immediately after the Lent Lunch.

Members started the festive season on December 5 with a coach trip for over 30 members and friends to the Christmas Market at Fowey where they were able, despite the weather to indulge in Christmas shopping.

Immediately prior to the meeting, four members of the craft group and the president, Jean Wattis, were able to present the newly completed banner to the Rainbow Brownies in the village.

Another month has flown by since the last meeting. Members always seem to enjoy eating and this was reflected by the first meeting of the “Three M’s”, (Mawnan Merry Munchers), formed to enjoy eating out together at least once a month.

Members enjoyed a mouth watering treat at the March meeting when the speaker Lorraine Wickens, demonstrated “Sweets for Easter”.

MOTHERS’ UNION: The Mothers' Union Deanery Carol Service was held at St Michael's Church, Mawnan Smith. The theme of this year's service was Christmas around the world. This was celebrated in word and song and included contributions and readings from several members as well as carols from Canada and Czechoslovakia sung by Margaret Bird. The service was led by the Rev Geoffrey Bennett and the gift baskets from the Mothers' Union for those in Cornwall Women's Refuges were blessed. The collection was for MU projects worldwide.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Members, sponsored by the local Rendlesham Trust, laid on their annual senior citizens tea in the Mawnan Memorial Hall. Entertainment was provided by Alan Foster from Penryn.
