This has been a very busy month for members. A craft exhibition was held at the Spring Fayre on May 9 and were able to show visitors the wide range of crafts from pottery, knitting and sewing, painting and silversmithing.
In the afternoon four brave, but novice ladies, entered “Challenge Mawnan” at the bowling club and proved that members are not as green as the bowling green by winning one game 10-1! The overall winners came from The Red Lion, so unfortunately members were beaten by a team of men.
The meeting included a very interesting talk by local beekeeper, Mel Jenkins, as the resolution to be discussed for the National AGM was about the plight of the honey bee.
Members were then entertained by five of their ladies modelling clothes kindly lent by the Cornwall Hospice shop that is now open in the village. Each person modelled three outfits and illustrated the wonderful array of clothes available at the shop.
May 16 saw several members preparing a cream tea for a coach party of elderly people, an event organised by Falmouth Rotary club.
The craft club is up and running and making a banner for the Rainbow Brownies in the village.
On Wednesday members can put their feet up and enjoy lunch at Trebah.
The meeting on June 12 is “Flower arranging” with Lorraine Wickens and Jenny Ragg. All are welcome.
