Over 100 visit Porthleven new homes exhibition
1:00pm Friday 7th December 2012 in Helston
More than 100 people visited Porthleven Public Hall last week to see the designs for 60 homes proposed for the top of the village.
It marked the second exhibition by the Rowe family, which hopes to develop land at Shrubberies Hill.
Of the 60 homes proposed, 36 of them would be affordable.
Among those speaking to members of the public at the exhibition were representatives from Coastline Housing, the registered provider onboard at this stage.
On an online consultation website set up for the proposed development it states that the aim of the homes would be to “deliver much needed affordable and open-market housing to Porthleven,” “provide a development that compliments Porthleven,” and “provide an area of public open space for local community use.”
The intention is for the development to be accessed via Shrubberies Hill.
Mark Rowe said: “We were really pleased that over 100 local residents came to view our proposals, with many of them supportive of the scheme, recognising the benefits 36 affordable homes would provide for their town.
"We have listened to the community’s comments about our proposals and will continue to keep them informed as our plans progress. Should anyone have any questions, then I would urge them to get in touch with our project team.”
The team is currently analysing the feedback received at both exhibitions, which precede a formal planning application being submitted.
More information about the proposals, together with designs, can be found online at www.consultation-online.co.uk/porthleven. Feedback can also be left via this website.
