A concert was performed by Mullion Handbell Ringers this week raising funds for St Mellanus Church.

It was designed as a “thank you” to Mullion’s parish church, which houses and insures the handbells.

Jingle Bells started off a repertoire of traditional Christmas carols, broken up by humorous and topical Christmas readings.

Val Stephen acted as musical director for the concert and worked out the arrangements of the carols for bells.

The inclusion of the old Merrick carol Star of Bethlehem was a particular favourite.

The concert was rounded off with thanks to helpers Kath and Una from member Gill Christophers and thanks to all of the ringers from the Rev Shane Griffiths. Tea was provided by the ringers themselves and was enjoyed by all.
