The death of Helston motorcyclist Wayne Pankhurst has in part led to changes to the stretch of road where he was killed.

Adrian Roberts, highways safety accident investigator for Cornwall Council, told the inquest into Mr Pankhurst's death that the crash had taken place in an area where there was an accident history, although this was at “a relatively low level.”

“That usually involves people late at night, perhaps worse for wear with drink,” he said, although these circumstances did not fit this particular accident.

Mr Roberts said: “As a result, partly over this accident and the low level history, we are proposing some improvements on this bend.”

These include brighter signs and a vehicle-activated sign that flashed up when people drove past, reminding them of the speed and bend.
