More than £4,000 was raised for Helston charity Cancer Funding for Cornwall at Flambards' annual fundraising Christmas lunch.

The family-run theme park hosted its seventh festive lunch at the Kingsford Venue, welcoming 120 guests from all over the UK.

These included Falklands veteran Simon Weston and former Wolverhampton Wanderer's player Steve Daly, who enjoyed a four course meal with entertainment.

BBC Spotlight's David Fitzgerald was master of ceremonies and Cornish comedian Jack Glanville provided the after lunch laughs.

Flambards' managing director James Kingsford Hale said: “Our annual Christmas lunch has become one of the highlights of the year.”

He said he was delighted that so many people had travelled, some coming long distances, to join the lunch again.

Mr Kingsford Hale added: “As always, our guests were very generous - contributing to a £20 note raffle and taking part in some enthusiastic bidding for the items kindly donated in the auction.”

Cancer Funding for Cornwall, based in Coinagehall Street, is a charity aimed at lengthening the lives of cancer patients by providing services and supporting their families. It also gives grants to individuals that would benefit someone with the illness.
