Helston Chamber Choir will be performing the work of three very different composers this evening, (Saturday, January 19).

The choir has enlisted the help of Porthleven Chamber Orchestra, as well as two well-regarded local musicians, to perform Duruflé's Requiem, John Rutter's Gloria and Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs.

Mezzo-soprano Sue Lancaster will lead the singers, particularly in the Gloria and the Five Mystical Songs.

Luke Bond, assistant director of Truro Cathedral and talented organist, will provide additional music for the evening.

The concert will take place in St Michael's Parish Church, Helston, at 7.30pm on Saturday, January 19.

Tickets will be £10 on the door, but can be bought in advance for a reduced £8, either from Heathercraft in Coinagehall Street or by calling either 01326 560387 or 565774.

Duruflé's Requiem is based upon the Gregorian themes of the Mass for the Dead, while Rutter's Gloria is in three movements that brings together music from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, from Gregorian chant to jazz rhythms.
