No change for Helston parking prices

First published in Helston

Some good or bad news on car parking charges in Helston, depending on your point of view.

Ticket prices for the town's car parks are to stay the same over the next financial year, meaning your £1 will still get you two hours of parking.

Helston and Porthleven Cornwall Councillor Andy Wallis, who is chairman of the parking advisory board, told PPV: “What you pay today is what you pay next year. I think that's welcome and gives a balance for a couple of years, to see the impact of car parking on towns.”

I am quite happy to pay £1 for parking for two hours. In an ideal world £1 a day would be better, but it isn't an ideal world so I can live with it. After all, to quote my own past statement, if one can afford to run a car then one expects to pay for parking sometimes. However, I do think extending the free time on the roadside bays to an hour would be better.
