Fake Lizard assault wasted “significant” amount of police time

“Significant” police time was wasted when a woman made up claims she had been assaulted near Ruan Minor.

It had been claimed that the 47-year-old was assaulted by a man at the side of the road between Ruan Minor and Lizard, on January 8.

However, last Wednesday police revealed that after detailed investigations the allegations were found to be false.

The woman had subsequently admitted to wasting police time was given an £80 penalty notice order as a result.

Detective Inspector Pete Simms: “As part of the police investigation into this reported incident, officers traced a number of witnesses and completed a substantial amount of work in examining the woman’s story.

“During these investigations it became clear that the report was false and, following interviews with the woman concerned, she admitted that she had lied to officers.

“This case obviously took up a significant amount of valuable police time, which we can ill-afford to lose.”

This issue really gives me cause for concern because it is people like that that encourage some people not to believe genuine assault victims. I was assaulted badly by a man unknown to me when I was 19 and in recent years have sustained what I consider to be 2 minor assaults in two unrelated incidents by men unknown to me, one of which was someone I challenged about his theft of money from a car-park honesty box.
When I first read about the assault I believed it was true and to discover now in this subsequent article that it is untrue is annoying in the least.

That sounds traumatic Gill, which reminds me about your faith. You had chosen it before you were 19 and before any other life upheaval?, and not from your parents , did you go to a religious school?

No I didn't attend any religious schools, in fact I hardly attended a senior school at all. I just chose to have a children's bible when I was young, I saw it and thought it was interesting, I always had an interest in books and still do. Then I chose to go along to a church with another young girl because my parents never attended a church.

Apologies for being curious.
So is it fair to assume a child that did not hardly ever attend senior school would be considered a child with some issue going on in mind or at home?
The school leaving age would have been either 15 or 16, so from 11 something must have been going on.
Anyway, putting aside my Sherlock Holmes hat and pipe (or perhaps putting it on), picking up the bible at a young age is perhaps not an uncommon thing. Just like a children now can easily pick up a Star Wars book, or get to know the films.
But there are not Jedi Temples in every significant village and town in the UK, unlike biblical based churches. If there were then many young children would have the wish of a dream and idea come true before them guaranteed to them by an adult in a uniform and confirmed by other adults as it being fact and not a story at all.
So perhaps I think the Church gave you your faith (conviction). And as a child you were ready and willing to take it.

You have no need to apologize.
The leaving age was 16 at the time and a girl from a different area joined the school and was bullied by a group of existing students, because I thought this wrong and chose to befriend the girl we were both systematically bullied, as the problem was not addressed properly I 'opted out of school' for the most part. My religious faith was established well before senior school and was not given to me by the Church,it was a decision that I chose after attending church of my own choice, I have since investigated many different denominations of faith but remained Christian, although just to put the cat among the pigeons as they say, I am open to the existence of reincarnation.

I guess reincarnation is not part of Christianity?
I have no idea of the details of various faiths. From memory I think Christians have a heaven? where there is a continuation of the self. I suppose that's similar to the reincarnation belief, both wish there to be more than just a cessation of electrical activity in the brain. A transfer of self into another form.

I'm open to the existence of the event that all our atoms over the universe will come back together again and make another bang, or form another dimensional universe.
That's kind of like a perpetuation of...something.
Although in reality it looks more like the universe will decay into a stagnant space of nothingness.
So before that happens I hope science finds us a way of transporting out of this universe into another one.

And I hope all this is on the mind of the man who had a bottle of vodka and cut himself with a kitchen knife.

Why would someone falsely claim such a thing ?

In case you've forgotten,Wave, you are on planet Earth !!

and yes,local newspapers are the only papers I buy,especially after all the fuss about the National papers in recent times.

If a huge amount of the public boycotted National's like myself and Gill,then they soon would be out of business and unable to carry on their vile trade.

I realised that as I had read the other article, and even if I hadn't I would have guessed there was a connection.

Incidentally I would like to know why the woman made the false claim and what if anything did she hope to gain by it.

What a strange thing to do, cant see that she has achieved anything ,apart from making a fool of herself. The Police are under enough pressure already, without wasting time on cases like this and i am glad she was fined for her offence.

That's true, however, to claim you have been assaulted if you haven't, in my view makes a mockery of those that have been assaulted. Not only that, it could result in an innocent person being accused of assault.

I too was assaulted by a fake lizard once but I didn't report it as the scales of justice are unfairly balanced in favour of the offender.
