If there is one colour that personnel from helicopter base RNAS Culdrose know well it is sky blue.
It was therefore fitting that this was the shade chosen to transform the playground at Cury Primary School, thanks to the hard work of some willing volunteers from the naval base.
They took pride in creating a colourful playground for pupils, which now cheers up even the greyest of days.
On the first of two mornings at the school the team took part in a quick discussion about which areas were to be transformed.
They first got to work painting the playground shed a fresh shade of blue and in no time at all had the first coat on.
They then reverted to their childhood and painted all the benches in the playground in interesting patterns of red, yellow and blue. One of the benches even ended up covered in spots.
Having completed their work on the second day, the volunteers from the squadron left with smiles on their faces and happy they could contribute.
The youngsters at the school were equally full of joy at the result, with one saying: “They have made our playground smile.”
Samantha Ratcliffe, from the school, said: “We are extremely grateful for this support and we are looking forward to developing further links with RNAS Culdrose in the future.”
