Two members of Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers’ Club have reached the national finals of a speaking competition.
Beth Tremayne and Dan Rowe were part of the four-strong winning team at the South West Area round of the Brains Trust competition, which took place at the weekend.
Frances Hosken, club reporter, said: “This is a huge achievement and the Brains Trust team will now be competing at the national competition.”
The team was supported by many other club members who travelled to Weymouth for the annual weekend of activities and competitions.
It proved to be a successful year for Cornwall YFC as a whole, which won many competitions.
Last Thursday, for Helston and St Keverne’s weekly club meeting, members received a talk by St John Ambulance before being given the chance to try out the recovery position and resuscitation methods on some dummies.
It proved to be an interesting evening and members found it useful to learn the potentially lifesaving techniques.
