Goodbye to long-serving councillor Keith Reynolds, who will be leaving Helston Town Council at the next election after more than two decades.

Mr Reynolds has made no secret of the fact he will not be standing when the town goes to the polls on May 2, along with towns and parishes throughout the rest of the county.

Now, having first joined the council in 1991, Mr Reynolds has attended his last meeting as a member.

With Mr Reynolds unable to make the April meeting, Helston’s mayor Jonathan Radford-Gaby used the last meeting to pay tribute to the work of Mr Reynolds over the last 22 years.

He said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Reynolds for his long service to this council.”

Mr Reynolds said he felt it was time for younger members to take over, adding he was “very encouraged” to see this was already starting to take place.

He added: “It’s been an honour and a privilege to serve the electorate of this town since 1991, on and off.

“I wish the council well for the future. I’ve always tried to do what I feel is best for Helston – not always with unanimous support! I shall miss you all.”
