An entrance porch that was prescribed as the solution to a draught problem at Helston Medical Centre has been given the go ahead.
The centre, above, which has its main entrance on Trelawney Road, has been given conditional approval to build a single-storey porch on the adjoining hall’s pharmacy entrance on Trengrouse Way.
The move means patients should not longer have to put up with chilly ankles while sitting in the waiting room.
The problem was caused by two sets of automatic doors opening on an ad-hoc basis at either side of the building, creating a through-draught.
To enable the porch to be built, an entrance gap in and outside wall will be moved to the left, rather than being directly in front of the pharmacy door as it is at present.
This should result in the existing steps no longer being needed, improving access for wheelchair users.
