Porthleven’s town warden Rod Barnes and council clerk Corrie Thompson are just weeks away from being able to issue fixed penalty notices and fines on dog owners who fail to pick up after their pets.
The pair have finished their training and now just have to complete a formal assessment.
With dog mess an increasing problem in the port, the council has also agreed to adopt the Green Dog Walkers Scheme.
Volunteers who wear a green armband or their dogs wear the branded green lead or collar to show they have pledged to always clean up and carry extra bags, are happy to be approached to give a bag to those without and act as a friendly reminder to other dog walkers.
