Traditional races were teamed with more unusual sports activities last week when Porthleven School held its annual sports day.
In addition to the running races, hurdles and tug of war, pupils also got to try out “surfing” by balancing on a board, placed on top of a gym ball – with head teacher Duncan Radcliffe even testing his skills.
There were also challenges to crawl under nets, move as a team in the “caterpillar race” and climb around a wall carrying water.
After some close fought battles, the ultimate winners were the red team, with Molly and Ben collecting the trophy.
On a beautifully dry and sunny day, there was no shortage of parents and other family members cheering the children on.
