Mullion’s 73rd annual horticultural show has been declared “an outstanding success” with more than 720 entries.

Taking place at Mullion Cricket Field last Wednesday, there was a vast array of vegetables, fruit and flowers to be admired.

The cookery section was once again very strong and many entries in the arts and craft section were of a particularly high standard.

Children were well represented, with tremendous support from Mullion Primary School; every pupil in the school submitted an entry.

The School Gardening Club also provided a display of their produce, with photographs of the school gardens tended by the children.

The large number of visitors to the show were treated to refreshments outside in the sunshine.

Show manager Ian Harvey thanked everyone for supporting the show and making it such a successful and enjoyable event.

Mullion Horticultural Association president Dr Geoff Wood presented more than 50 cups, with the coveted ‘best in show’ awarded to David Endean for his sweet peas.
