Porthleven's parish church has commemorated the 100th anniversary of World War One with a special concert.

Members of the community filled St Bartholomew's Church for an evening of music courtesy of the One and All Choir.

Not only did the choir perform songs, but various members also read poems and readings as part of the concert.

It saw a return for former parish priest Harry Pugh, who returned to his old church through his involvement with the choir; he also read a poem.

The ATC Plymouth & Cornwall Corps of Drums was also present and performed as part of the concert.

Compere for the evening was Rev Peter Johnson.

Organiser Maureen Williams said: “It went very well and was very well supported.”

She said that she was pleased with the support shown, adding: “Thanks to everybody that took part and to the people that helped on the night.”

Although it is not yet known how much money was raised, the proceeds will be split between military charity Help For Heroes and St Bartholomew's Church.
