Helston and St Keverne YFC was blessed with glorious sunshine for its Mystery Weekend.

This event is held annually, where club leaders organise a weekend of fun for other members.

This year members were treated to a lovely sunny day in which they went to Helford Passage for a meal and then down to the Helford river for a spot of “doughnuting.”

In the afternoon an obstacle course had been set up, ending with a giant plastic sheet water slide. The members spent the best part of two hours on the slide and then enjoyed a barbecue, drinks and camping to round off the weekend.

Recently the club also spent an evening helping to set up for Cornwall YFC’s Country Fair at Stithians Showground and looked after the sheaf pitching stall during the day. Despite the grey skies the event was well attended and was enjoyable for all the county members.

In the past week the club went on a roving supper which consisted of travelling from house to house for different courses, to make up a full meal. The display of food was wonderful and the members thoroughly enjoyed each course.

Thanks were given to the families of Hannah Smith, Beth Tremayne and Michelle Coombe for providing the club with the meals.

On September 13 the club will be holding its annual ploughing match at Tregiddle Farm, Gunwalloe.

Anyone interested in entering or want further information on ploughing or the donestic classes can call either Frances Hosken on 01326 231237 or 07419 343065, or Rachael Benney on 07931 810377.
