Groups are invited to apply for financial support from the Goonhilly Wind Farm Community Fund .

Operator REG Windpower donates £48,000 a year to support good causes in the community and the fund is now welcoming applications from the TR12 postcode area, with the deadline for applications for the next grants is September 224.

Groups to benefit from the fund in 2013 included St Keverne Male Voice Choir, Zelda School in Gweek, Gweek Village Hall, Mullion Cricket Club, Sunshine Café Memory Club, St Keverne Village Hall and the Mawgan Recreation Ground and Hall.

St Keverne Male Voice Choir received £4,200 funding towards new uniforms and sheet music.

Paul Taylor, honorary secretary of the St Keverne Male Voice Choir said “Having the sponsorship means a great deal to the choir. The timing of the grant was just what was needed to update the choir's image; you can see how smart the new uniform is.

"Also it enabled us to buy new music and this has allowed our musical director Paul Triggs to update our music to include a number of modern pieces. We feel refreshed and ready to move forward again, thank you to REG Windpower for this grant.”

Zelda School in Gweek received £2,500 to build a large covered outdoor classroom so that outdoor learning would not be hampered by wet weather.

Claudia Richard from REG Windpower said: “We are pleased to support education on the Lizard, and we hope the fund will help Zelda School continue to teach the importance of caring for our environment. Goonhilly Wind Farm is popular with schools, universities, and community groups and we are proud to host visits for schools that are interested in learning about renewable energy.”
