A Helston estate agency is planning a revamp of its own.

Miller and Son in Meneage Street has applied for planning permission to alter the shop front, in order to create disabled access.

Members of the town council’s planning committee considered the plans when they met last week.

They heard that the shop used to be run as a butchers, Dewhurst’s, and at that time the front looked very different, with three folding doors, which used to be folded back to create a large entrance.

Since it was taken over by the estate agency there had been two doors that were not used.

The owners wanted to block up these two doors and put in their place a glass window, with a wider door to allow disabled access.

Councillor John Boase said: “Being the type of the door it is at the moment, it’s not wide enough. I think it [the alteration] will more of planning gain to the street.”

Members agreed to support the plans, which will now go before Cornwall Council.
