Lifeguards at Praa Sands had to race to Kenneggy beach on Friday after a call from Coastguards that a man had broken his ankle.
Matt Renshaw and Alex Wake launched the inshore rescue boat and headed around the corner from Praa Sands, while Josh stayed in the patrol truck maintaining communications on the radio. After a 10 minute search the lifeguards located the casualty and beached the inshore rescue boat.
The man was "in severe pain", and the lifeguards immediately administered casualty care until the Royal Navy Search and Rescue helicopter Rescue 193 arrived.
Matt and Alex stayed on scene to assist the helicopter crew with the patient with pain relief and leg support.
The casualty was transferred onto a stretcher with help from the public and lifeguards, and was transported to the helicopter which had landed a short distance away on the beach. Once the helicopter had departed, the lifeguards returned to Praa Sands and continued their duties.
