A retired vet whose idea prompted the transformation of Helston’s whitewashed walls has been honoured for his service to the town.
John Head, whose family helped set up Head & Head Veterinary Practice, was presented with a plaque by the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard in recognition of his outstanding service to the town of Helston.
Mr Head worked with the club in a project to restore the town’s walls in time for Flora Day 2013, having revealed his ambition during the Midday Dance practice the previous year.
Not able to do the work on his own, John enlisted the help of the Rotary club and, after jointly arranging a fundraising event, in 2013 the walls were restored and painted in time for Flora Day.
This year a coat of paint was all that was needed in readiness for the big day.
