Firefighters from Helston were called out to Tresowes Hill, Ashton yesterday after a report that a large bonfire was burning out of control.
Fire control first received a report of a large plume of smoke seen from Germoe towards Tresowes Hill and called a crew out to investigate.
A spokesman said: "One arrival the crew found a large bonfire approximately six metres by six metres which had become uncontrollable.
"The owners were on scene and had tried to extinguish it with no success."
Firefighters used two hose reels to put the fire out and gave advice on controlled burning.
