Concerns have been raised that Coverack could end up with a “plethora of poles” in order to get the latest technology.
Former councillor Robin Hobson, speaking as a member of the public at the last parish council meeting, said he had spoken to engineers about the infrastructure needed to bring fibre optics to the village.
“The cables run through Coverack, but they’re not connecting the houses,” he said. “They’re proposing putting in a plethora of poles, because they’re not allowed to come off the telegraph poles.
“They’re literally going to put a pole alongside another pole. It seems crazy, if you’re in an SSSI (site of special scientific interest) and they can’t communicate.”
Councillors agreed to write to MP Andrew George about their concerns.
