People in Porthleven will be able to find out more about setting up a neighbourhood plan for the future at an open afternoon later this month.

The Porthleven Neighbourhood Plan Forum is making progress on setting up a plan, which will look at the future of the port.

It will allow residents to have a say on how they would like to see Porthleven develop over the coming years, looking at everything from housing to roads and community facilities.

The plan will also be taken into consideration when planning applications are decided on.

Cornwall Council has now agreed to the area proposed by the set-up group as the designated “neighbourhood area.”

Anyone can get a map of this area by emailing porthlevennp@gmail.com.

A neighbourhood plan drop-in surgery will now take place at Porthleven Public Hall on October 22, from 1pm through until 10pm, so that residents of the port can find out more.

Alan Jorgensen, chairman of the Porthleven Neighbourhood Plan Forum, said: “This event will give members of the public an ideal opportunity to meet and chat with the team and allow the team a chance to listen to the views of the public.”

The forum’s four teams – focussing on the economy, environment, social aspects and policy – will also meet with local groups and residents to get views on local issues and priorities.

Anyone interested in getting involved in helping shape the future of Porthleven should send their details to porthlevennp@gmail.com
