Porthleven’s mayor has held his first civic service since being sworn into office in May.
The rain stayed away as Daniel Williams led a parade from Porthleven Public Hall to St Bartholomew’s Church, which was filled with people.
Among them were mayors and mayoresses from surrounding towns, including Mike Thomas, mayor of Helston. The mayor’s chaplain, Rev Harry Pugh, oversaw proceedings and led the congregation in prayer.
Angela Thomas performed three songs for the assembled guests, as part of the service.
Mr Williams is Porthleven’s third mayor since the council adopted mayoral status in 2009.
Amongst his many roles in this position, he supports and encourages the interests of Porthleven and its people. When he was first sworn in, Mr Williams named his two mayor’s charities for the year, which are the Porthleven Medical Centre and the Porthleven Christmas Lights Appeal.
During the civic service, a collection was made which came to a total of £150. These donations were split between St Bartholomew’s church and the two charities, with the hope that it will help in the continued development of their causes.
