It might seem early to be thinking about Christmas, but with just ten weeks to go Mullion’s parish church has issued an open invitation to its community lunch.
St Mellanus Church will be hosting a Community Christmas Lunch on Sunday, December 21 at the WI Hall from 12.30pm. The event is entirely free of charge.
Mary Druce, one of the organisers, said: “We wanted to bring some Christmas joy to people in the area who are on their own, lonely, or unable to get out much, or to welcome anyone who is new to the village.
“We started fundraising early this year and made enough to buy the turkeys and a few bits and pieces. Now the plan is to ask local people if they would donate vegetables, puds, crackers or any other festive items.”
Although “the full works” is promised for the lunch, organisers don’t want anyone to spend their money, meaning there won’t even be a raffle.
“We have Father Christmas coming instead!” said Mary.
Transport to and from the WI Hall can be arranged for anyone who needs it. To book a place ring Mary on 01326 240762, with people encouraged to say if they need transport.
