Work on the leats is believed to be the reason why water has temporarily stopped flowing through Helston’s kennels.
Following a question from Ivan Perry at the last town council meeting, about the dry town centre waterways, town clerk Chris Dawson said there was a number of reasons why the water could be turned off: low water levels in the River Cober, work on the leats or re-pointing of the kennels.
They are also switched off during periods of heavy rain, to stop them overflowing.
However, councillor Nicola Boase said she has been told that work was taking place on the leats, which probably accounted for the dryness.
