There was an “excellent” turnout on Sunday morning as the people of Helston remembered all those who gave their lives in armed conflict over the last 100 years.
Representatives of the Royal Navy from Culdrose, the Royal British Legion, and local scouting and guiding organisations, among others, paraded through the street led by Helston Town Band, before a service at St Michael’s Church.
Lionel Endean, Helston Royal British Legion branch president, said: “The church was full from top to bottom, people were standing in the back.
“There was an excellent turnout, I think there were 21 or 22 wreaths laid, it all went well.
“Down at the garden of remembrance I would say there must have been 40 crosses different people had laid.”
On Tuesday morning, Armistice Day, around 80 to 100 people, including the mayor and town councillors, braved the bad weather to pay their respects to the dead.
