Visitors to Helston next summer should be greeted with new map boards to help them find their way around.
A full scale A0 sized proof has been printed to give an idea of what information will be featured.
Now Helston Town Council has agreed to pay £400 from its “public realm work” budget for changes to be made, including adding extra content such as information about Flora Day, the link with Penrose and the history of the town.
Other alternations include adding the location of extra pedestrian routes and zebra crossings, bus stop corrections and inserting logos of sponsors.
Martin Searle, town centre regeneration officer, who is overseeing the project, said the South Kerrier Alliance had already paid £346 and the Helston Business Improvement Partnership £330, so it would seem appropriate for the council to cover the next payment.
This would produce a working draft to be scrutinised by key organisations involved, and displayed publicly before the map was finalised and produced.
Members agreed, although the feeling was that the figure was “rather excessive.” It is hoped the maps will be in place by April next year, in time for the start of the next visitor season.
