There was good support from the village when Mullion’s women’s section of the Royal British Legion hosted a Christmas bazaar.

Held in the WI Hall, there were a range of stalls selling Christmas items as well as cakes and toys, plus a tombola, large raffle and refreshments served.

Games included guessing the name of the teddy bear and a treasure hunt, and there was a special visit from Father Christmas.

The event was opened by Flambards’ mascot Ferdi, who despite being a fox of few words communicated how pleased he was to be there by waving and making signs.

Pat Wells, from the Mullion group, said: “It was excellent. We’d like to thank everybody in the village for their support.”

She described the hall as “packed” with people, with the event making £410. This will stay in Cornwall, for the Royal British Legion Women’s Section, with 17 branches in the county.

Mrs Wells said if there was any money left it would go to the men’s section of the Royal British Legion.

The Mullion women’s section is currently run by a dedicate committee of ten, but is always looking for new and younger members.

Mrs Wells said people always thought of veterans in World War One and World War Two, but in fact money was going to those injured in recent conflicts such as Afghanistan.
