The Culdrose Military Wives Choir has recorded a Christmas music video dedicated to the crew of RFA Argus, where some of their husbands are serving over the festive period.

A total of 38 women gathered in St Michael’s Church in Helston, in |festive knitwear and headgear, to |sing a harmonised arrangement of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” which the choir had|learned specifically.

RFA Argus has been high in the thoughts of the Culdrose community – 820 Squadron and other personnel from RNAS Culdrose having |deployed with the ship, including the husbands of choir members Amalia Chambers, Carrie Chappell, Mary Kells and Naomi Anstill.

RFA Argus currently has no return date and the families are not expecting them to return for many more months.

“We are incredibly proud of these servicemen and women” said Victoria Breen, chair of the Culdrose Military Wives Choir.

“We are also well aware how it feels to be apart from our loved ones, especially during the festive period, so we wanted to show our appreciation of those deployed on RFA Argus. It will come as no surprise that we decided the best way to do this was to sing.”

One of the four separated wives, Naomi Anstill, has two daughters aged one and four. She said: “I can’t say |that my husband’s deployment didn’t come as a blow, after he had already spent much of 2014 away from us. But |we are proud of the task he is undertaking and will make the best of the festivities this year.

“Recording this video was a fun moment, and my daughters have watched it repeatedly. I hope it will make my husband laugh, and spread some cheer to the rest of the crew”.

The video has been sent on disk to the Commanding Officer of RFA Argus, for broadcast to the ship’s company.

The video was edited by Falmouth-based specialist Carl Wakfer.
