A Royal Marine living in Helston has been banned from the road after admitting drink driving on Boxing Day.

Kyle Grace, 28, living in Helston but based at Poole in Dorset, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Longdowns on Boxing Day, when he was found to be 19 points over the limit for alcohol in breath.

He told police who spoke to him on the A394 Helston to Falmouth road that he had had two cans of beer before driving.

His solicitor Martin Pearce said he was extremely career-minded and in the driving branch of the Royal Marines and his disqualification would have a direct effect on his career.

The court heard that Grace was so alarmed that he had been found to be a drink driver and at the effect it would have on his life that he volunteered himself for an alcohol education course.

Grace was fined £300 with £115 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for a year.
