Live actors and interactive displays will bring the Easter story to life at Helston Methodist Church through the telling of CS Lewis’ famous book The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

Visitors will be able to draw parallels between Narnia and the story of Jesus’ resurrection in the Bible.

The Narnia Experience is due to take place at Helston Methodist Church from March 23 until April 6, when the chapel area will be transformed into an amazing journey through Narnia.

This will start in the Professor’s House then travel through the wardrobe into a winter wonderland, on through Mr Tunmnus’ house, passing the White Witch, and into the home of Mr and Mrs Beaver, after which there’s a visit to Father Christmas before meeting Aslan.

The 14 sections will end with the final battle, Aslan’s return and finally the throne room, before visitors pass back through the wardrobe to reality.

Each section will be interactive, with the chance to write something, do something – or simply sample Turkish Delight.

During the first week around 500 schoolchildren will be visiting the experience where they will meet live actors playing the Professor, Mr Tumnus, Mrs Beaver, Aslan’s royal courtier and CS Lewis.

During the evenings of this week several small groups have booked to visit as well as a number of young people’s groups.

From Saturday, March 28 through to April 4 (apart from March 29 and April 3) the Narnia Experience will be open from 10am to 5pm and then again between 7pm and 9pm for people to pop in without a booking.

It will also be open on March 29 and April 5 (Easter Sunday) between 2pm and 5pm, and on Good Friday, April 3, between noon and 5pm.

The event was thought up by Rev Danny Reed, superintendant minister for The Lizard and Mounts Bay Methodist Circuit, and has been put together by a team from across the different churches.
