Gardening enthusiasts braved the wind and the rain to soak up a bit of spring-time atmosphere at St Keverne Methodist Hall.
The hall was the venue for the annual St Keverne Gardeners’ Society’s Spring Show which boasted one of its best attendance records for several years.
The society was also happy with the number of entries this year, which almost caused problems.
“It was a very near thing to display all the entries before the 11.45am deadline, and bilkini vases, the specialised vase for daffodils, ran out,” said secretary, Marilyn Hebbron.
Among the prize winners were David Endean, who took home the Rozann Whitaker Cup and Doug Stevens, who won the best daffodil bloom. The best exhibit in the non-daffodil classes was won by Walter Sanger, whose beautiful orchid also won the best in show title. Jenny Butler had entered the best photograph and the exhibitor gaining the most points in the whole show was Mandy Pound.
