Staff of the former Wincanton Garages at Helston will get together next month for a reunion which follows on from a successful similar event held last summer.
Those who attended the reunion last July enjoyed themselves so much that they wanted to hold another one. This year’s event will be held at the Maytree restaurant in Helston on May 12 from 7pm and all previous staff and their partners are invited.
Wincanton Garages operated from Penzance Road from what is now the site of the Lidl supermarket. It also ran other business units on the opposite side of the road. The company was set up in 1920 by Leonard Christophers and his wife, Millicent, as a haulage business. This was sold to Cow & Gate in June 1940 and renamed Wincanton Garages.
Next month’s reunion will include a buffet supper with tickets costing £10 each. Booking is essential with payment required by May 1. All enquiries should be made to David and Jean Gray on 01326 340795 or 07771 898487.
