Superfast Cornwall has disputed a Helston town councillor’s claim that the council offices cannot get superfast broadband.

At a meeting of the town council recently, councillor John Boase had said that Market Place, where the council offices are based, was the only building not to be able to get superfast broadband in the area.

But SuperFast Cornwall spokesman Jason Mann said that the council building could get the service any time it wanted.

“We are pleased to say that Helston Town Council can have high speed fibre broad band if they wish,” he said. “They just have to apply to a service provider who offers it.

“Superfast Cornwall have updated councillor Boase explaining to him the current situation.”

At the meeting Councillor Boase was supported by other councillors with his call to |get superfast broadband installed at the offices so that a web camera could be on the building for use at events such | as Flora Day.
