A man had his shoes and jacket stolen when he was knocked down and robbed in Helston town centre days before Flora day.

Police are asking for help after the man, who is local to Helston, was assaulted and robbed by one of a group of four men at the top of Trengrouse Way, across from Helston Athletic Football Club, at around 3.30am on Wednesday, May 6.

He was knocked to the floor by one of the group, who had earlier approached him to ask for a cigarette, and had an iPad, a black Volcom ski jacket and beige Lakai skate shoes taken from him.

DC Alun Evans of Helston CID said the victim was "pushed over" and "knocked his head in the process."

He said: "The victim said it's just opportunist; when he spoke to them prior to it happening they were fine. He had his iPad out, he has the idea one of them might have liked it.

"As he was walking away he felt the site of his head being pushed and fell down."

The man, who did not wish to be identified, is understood not to have been injured during the incident.

Police described of the group as as white, in their early twenties with short shaved back and side haircuts, and said they all wore blue jeans with elasticated ankles and Nike trainers, one wore a black Ellesse sweater and another a grey Nike sweater.
