Parc Eglos School has recently opened a new multi unit games area after receiving funding from Sport England, who work to increase the number of people playing regular sport throughout the country.

The games unit recently installed into the school is a compactable and multi functional space that facilitates the playing of football, netball, basketball as well as net games such as volley ball and badminton.

Head teacher, Dye Brett, made the funding bid back in March 2014 in order to: “help improve facilities for the school and the wider community and provide a quality area for a wider range of sports.”

Parc Eglos is currently the central sports hub in the Southerly Point Co-operative Schools trust that includes 17 schools in total.

To the question on whether or not these new facilities will also be available to other schools making up the co-operative, he said:

“Yes, we have an inaugural Southerly Point Y3/4 tournament on Tues, June 30, with many more in the pipeline.”

Brett Dye also said:

“It is very important for the children. It enables them to develop in lots of different sports that the children wouldn’t have been able to improve on before.”

He continued:

“They absolutely adore it, they all want to have a go in it. We have had to set up a rotor.”
