Godolphin Community Association recently held its village fete in the grounds of Godolphin House, raising what is expected to be "a brilliant amount" for the Youth Club, Over 50’s club, the Christmas lights and St Julia’s Hospice.

The fete attracted "overwhelming" numbers, and the support from the community was fantastic. The day was packed full of fun, including smash a plate, a bouncy castle and craft stalls selling a variety of local produce such as knitwear, soaps, jewellery, photography and artwork. Refreshments were also available throughout the day, with the beauty of the area also free to roam.

There was also a dog show which was very popular with classes such as "waggiest tail" and "loveliest lady" which saw many four-legged-friends taking part.

Organiser Alison Hallett said they were “very lucky” with the weather as it was wet when setting up, but the sun came out just in time for the beginning of the fete.

There was a variety of entertainment available including Teresa Blee’s Dance Group, Praze and Hayle Male Voice Choir and Godolphin School Choir. There was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day, with one stall holder saying it was "one of their favourite community events” and another saying: “It was a really fabulous event, everyone was so helpful and smiley."
