HELSTON'S largest primary school, Parc Eglos, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is inviting pupils past and present to an open afternoon this Friday.
The event is being held to commemorate the opening of the school in 1965, and will incorporate the summer fair and will feature many stalls and activities, some of which will reflect, amongst other things, the fashions and music from the last five decades.
The fair will be opened at 2pm by Mike Thomas, mayor of Helston, after which the RNAS Culdrose marching band will perform. During the afternoon visitors will be treated to topical entertainment by the pupils. The children will also present a specially written celebratory song.
There will be guided tours around the school by current year six pupils and the chance to buy a specially commissioned commemorative book containing photographs, memories, and much more relating to the last 50 years of life at Parc Eglos.
The staff and pupils would like to cordially invite all ex-pupils, ex-staff, parents and the local community to come and join them for this very special day.
A ticketed adults only evening event has also been planned with food and entertainment in the school.
For information or tickets for the evening please call the school on 572998.
