The Lizard lifeboat went on a 70 mile round trip last Wednesday to rescue a French fishing boat which had caught its net around its propeller out in the English Channel.
The all weather launched just before 11am following a call from 24 metre vessel Cezembre, which had a crew of five on board when it broke down 34 miles south west of Lizard Point.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "Once on scene the lifeboat passed a line across to the crew of the Cezembre who set up a towline.
"The vessel was then towed towards Newlyn and after over four hours the tow was handed over to Penlee RNLI lifeboat who then towed the vessel in to Newlyn Harbour where a diver was waiting.
"The obstruction was removed from the vessels propeller and the fishing boat then returned to work."
