Children at St Martin Primary School enjoyed an afternoon of fun and fundraising recently which started with an assembly by ShelterBox volunteers who spoke about the charity's work.

The youngsters looked at the contents of a ShelterBox, learned about the kinds of places the charity supports and then helped put up one of the tents ready for a camping sleepover in the school field.

The afternoon also included a talent show, barbecue, jumble sale and stalls run by the children themselves before they cooked some food and made hot chocolate on the fire pit. Bedtime stories followed ahead of a good night’s sleep under canvas.

"We had lots of fun and raised some money for our school and for ShelterBox too," said a school spokesman,
