The Lizard RNLI lifeboat coxswain Andrew Putt was invited to Coverack Primary school to receive a donation from the proceeds of a cake sale.

The pupils from the school had previously visited The Lizard lifeboat station to learn about the work of the RNLI and in particular the volunteer lifeboat crews. The children were shown around both the station and the all-weather Tamar class lifeboat Rose. The Lizard lifeboat deputy launching authority’s John Cooper and Mike Pamphilon, along with coxswain Andrew, took the time to explain the work carried out by the crews.

The children were particularly excited to ride up the cliff in the station's lift. On return to school they decided to organise a cake sale to raise funds for the RNLI.

Andrew was then invited into the school when pupils Charlotte and Lily, presented him and John Brocklebank, a member of the fund-raising committee of the Coverack RNLI branch, with a cheque for £75.

Andrew said: "It was fantastic to go along to the school and to hear how the children were inspired to hold a cake sale to raise vital funds for the RNLI. We would like to thank both the children and their teachers for their efforts, especially Lorraine Brown who arranged for the children to come along to the station."
