A little bit of wind and rain didn't prevent the annual Lizard Lifeboat summer fete from taking place, but due to the poor weather the event had to change its venue and took place at The Lizard Football Club instead of on the village green.

Visitors were treated to all of the usual souvenir stalls, cakes, crab sandwiches, raffles and games which were on offer to everyone who came to support the lifeboat. The event also launched the official 2016 Lizard Lifeboat Calendar which has been produced again thanks to the kind generosity of L&S Printing.

The fund raising committee were delighted to welcome the Coastguards and Mullion Fire Fighters to the football field as additional local emergency services. Both were popular attractions to the fete and all at the lifeboat station wish to thank them for their attendance during the afternoon. Sadly, the weather prevented Hayle Town Band from entertaining the crowd as they have done so in previous years.

Huge thanks go to the superb team of volunteers who generously made cakes and scones, donated plants and raffle prizes, manned the stalls and gave up their time all in aid of our lifeboat. Thanks also go to the local restaurants and cafes who each donated a dish for the “Eating around The Lizard” raffle, to The Lizard Football Club, and to everyone who came and supported a fantastic afternoon for The Lizard Lifeboat. Over £1,500 was raised which hailed the event as another resounding success.
