Organisers of the annual Grade Ruan Vintage Rally on the Lizard have reported one of their best shows ever in it’s 29 year history.
More than 2,000 visitors toured the showground at Ruan Minor in glorious sunshine to inspect the dozens of vintage vehicles, motorcycles and tractors which had gathered from all over west Cornwall. The rally has become something of a fixture in the calendar of vintage vehicle enthusiasts over the years, although its future was threatened a few years ago by a succession of wet and windy show days.
Show secretary Stevyn Collins said: “People were stopping me and asking where’s the rain – it’s not Ruan Rally without rain. Thankfully the sun shone all day, giving us two good years in succession, so the future of the event should be safe for a few years yet.”
When the accounts have been finalised, the organisers hope to be in a position to make a donation to local charities.
