After an introductory week of free parking, including Lifeboat Day and the gig regatta, Porthleven's new car park began charging on Tuesday.

Motorists will now be charged to use the Withy Field car park, at £1.40 for up to two-hours and £3.50 for 24 hours, with payment by coins or telephone.

Porthleven Community Interest Company, which runs the car park, said: "The car park is enforced by ANPR cameras and therefore, if you do not pay to park, you will get a penalty charge.

"The CIC has contracted this service out and any fines issued will be dealt by Creative Parking."

They added: "The CIC gets nothing from the fines."

Money raised from the car park will be reinvested in Porthleven by the CIC in the form of grants to community organisations.
