Joy mixed with disappointment at Helston Community College on Thursday as A level students arrived to collect their results.
A summer of waiting was over for the pupils, who arrived early to collect results which for many could determine whether or not they gained a place at the university of their choice, or continue on into further training or employment.
Although this year across Cornwall early attendance at results day dropped, as more pupils were able to access their results online, with some universities contacting pupils to confirm their place before the teenagers themselves even knew how they had done.
And for many of those who didn't quite get what they needed there is still clearing, offering a second chance to take up the course they wish to follow.
