Helston Theatre Company has been granted the rights to stage the Cornish premier of Our House, The Madness Musical.

Earlier this year the amateur theatre company staged the South West premier of Sunset Boulevard to great critical acclaim. The group has now been nominated for 18 Cornwall Drama Association awards for their four shows across the year.

Our House follows Camden lad Joe Casey who, on the night of his birthday, makes a decision that will change his life. Trying to impress the girl of his dreams, Joe breaks into a building development and things take a turn for the worse as the police turn up. Joe’s life splits into two; the Good Joe who stays and gives himself up and Bad Joe who flees. The show is packed full of Madness songs including Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love, and I’ve Been Driving in My Car.

Director Ben Blaber said: “I can't wait to get started on this fantastic show. The story is great and everyone already knows the catchy feel good songs of Madness. Our House is a high energy and modern show, with hilarious dialogue and some great characters.

"Helston Theatre Company had a very strong season of shows last year, reflected in our 18 Cornwall Drama nominations, and I'm looking forward to trying to top them.”

Joining Ben on the creative team for Our House will be choreographer Anita Smuda, and musical director Luke Mills from the band Elementary Penguins.

If you would like to be involved with Our House, either on or off the stage, there will be launch onnext Thursday, September 24, at 7.30pm in the Epworth Hall. For more information contact Ben Blaber on Ben@helstontheatre.com or 07890 384634.
