St Michael's Church in Helston spread a little festive cheer at its annual Christmas fair recently when around £450 was raised.

The event, held at the church, had been organised by Sandra Chambers and saw several of her fellow church members rally around to man the stalls, which were stocked with a variety of items from handicrafts to toys and Christmas gifts.

There was also a raffle which offered as prizes items which had been donated by members of the church's congregation. "Plenty" of people turned out to support the fair and created a "good atmosphere" throughout the morning.

The money raised will go to general church funds - as one church member said: "It all helps to keep the church going."
